Hey y’all, it’s ya gal, ---, desastre verde's logistic director, back at it again with more disaster awareness guides and tips! For today, we are going to talk about what to do during a volcanic eruption.
The first thing you have to keep in mind during a volcanic eruption is that you should be wearing the proper safety gear; Before evacuating, wear a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and goggles to protect yourself from potential harm caused by the volcanic ash. It's important to note that you should have a mask or a damp cloth covering your mouth in order to avoid inhaling particles of the ash as this can cause irreversible lung damage. Once wearing the safety gear, follow the previously shown evacuation plan and bring all family members to the marked evacuation center.
However, in the event that you are told to stay indoors, place damp cloth around the window frames and door frames and close off all vents to prevent volcanic ash from enter the building. In the event that you are evacuating and seeking temporary shelter, stay away from low-lying places and rivers as volcanic debris and ash tend to spread here.
Hope y'all stay alert and safe!! x
